1) Level One: summarize the strategy/method/approach/materials and how oral language development
and emerging communication abilities in young children is supported from this
2) Level Two: summarize the video (of your choice). You must include your analysis, application, and
interpretation, and describe what was happening during learning in this video.
3) Level Three: reflection on the content and its meaning to you in your current/future professional
role and application to your classroom. It should reflect what your readings and video mean to you as an
educator, how you relate to the ideas of the author/video and how and why you can or cannot apply these ideas
into your current or future practice.
Details to guide you in your analysis process:
Level One – Description/Abstract: A short paragraph. This paragraph describes the
strategy/method/approach/materials and captures its salient points. This provides an overview of the
strategy/method/approach and how emerging communication abilities in young children is supported from this
perspective for your reader.
Level Two – Analysis, Application, and Interpretation of the material are the focus of this section. This
section is where you, the analyzer, apply your growing knowledge to comment on the core ideas or research
described and discussed and its relation to the readings & videos we have read and viewed so far. It concerns
your interpretation of the material based on the readings we have done to date. In this section, utilize at least
two supporting sources (references) from your readings, using APA style, 7

end of your Video Analysis on a page entitled References. These citations may be taken from Canvas and may
include articles you may have read on your own or in previous courses.
Level Three – Reflection: This is a section where you will reflect on what the readings and video mean to you
and how you connect to it. For example: Why did they appeal to you? You should state what this research
means to you as an educator and how you might use it (or portions of it) in your (future) classroom. You might

explain what you would do similarly or differently, and why, to help students learn. Or, you may want to talk
about what you learned that will help you in the future. This section personalizes the description, analysis, and
interpretation to your individual situation.
