Writing Instructional Resources Rubric

Candidates will locate materials for supporting effective writing instruction in a balanced literacy program across all levels. They will prepare an organized file of resource materials that include instructional strategies and activities, Internet resources, and other materials. Resources should be appropriate for use with students of diverse backgrounds and abilities.

There must be a minimum of 3 sections categorizing the portfolio. Sections/categories may include writing prompts, mentor texts, author resources, publishing possibilities, graphic organizers, etc. Each section/category will include 3-4 artifacts (minimum 10 artifacts total).

You will also prepare a 1-page overview/description of the writing portfolio. The 1-page overview will describe how the resources will help guide your writing instruction for diverse students.

The purpose of this assignment is to help you create a digital portfolio of ideas, resources, and reflections on new literacies today. You may choose to create your “digital educational identity” as a public presence or private. Either way, you will get to use technology tools to read, write, and engage with that very technology.

o Create a digital portfolio using a multimedia application—either online or using an application/software

· Examples: One Note, Evernote, Weebly, PBS Learning Media, Pinterest, or other blog platform, wiki
